📖 1 min readThe Most Generous is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One who gives without depletion and forgives despite the power to punish.
To pronounce the name The Most Generous in Arabic, we say: Al-Karim.
It is written in Arabic: الكريم.
From the Arabic root ك-ر-م (k-r-m, nobility and generosity), on the pattern فَعِيل (fa'il), it denotes limitless generosity, honor, and beneficence.
The Name “The Most Generous” means: The One who gives without depletion and forgives despite the power to punish. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to give without display, recognize every blessing as coming from Allah, and serve creation generously. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
