📖 1 min readThe Perfectly Powerful is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One whose perfect power acts without any obstacle.
To pronounce the name The Perfectly Powerful in Arabic, we say: Al-Muqtadir.
It is written in Arabic: المقتدر.
From the Arabic root ق-د-ر (q-d-r, power and measure), مُقْتَدِر (muqtadir) is the Form VIII active participle, expressing perfect and manifest power.
The Name “The Perfectly Powerful” means: The One whose perfect power acts without any obstacle. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to renounce pride, struggle against the passions, and trust Allah's power rather than personal means. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
