From the Arabic root ق-د-ر (q-d-r, power and measure), قَادِر (qadir) is the active participle فَاعِل, the one fully able to decree and accomplish.
The Name “The All-Powerful” means: The One able to do every possible thing without weakness or hindrance. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to renounce pride, struggle against the passions, and trust Allah's power rather than personal means. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
