📖 1 min readThe Provider is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One who creates and delivers every provision.
To pronounce the name The Provider in Arabic, we say: Ar-Razzaq.
It is written in Arabic: الرزاق.
From the Arabic root ر-ز-ق (r-z-q, provision), on the intensive pattern فَعَّال (fa''al), it denotes the continual giver of every kind of sustenance.
The Name “The Provider” means: The One who creates and delivers every provision. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to seek lawful provision, share one's means, and never confuse created means with the true Provider. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
