To pronounce the name The Source of Goodness in Arabic, we say: Al-Barr.
It is written in Arabic: البر.
From the Arabic root ب-ر-ر (b-r-r, goodness and truthfulness), بَرّ (barr) is an intensive adjective denoting boundless goodness and beneficence.
The Name “The Source of Goodness” means: The One from whom all goodness and beneficence proceed. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to give without display, recognize every blessing as coming from Allah, and serve creation generously. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
