📖 1 min readThe Source of Peace is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One free of every defect and from whom all peace proceeds.
To pronounce the name The Source of Peace in Arabic, we say: As-Salam.
It is written in Arabic: السلام.
From the Arabic root س-ل-م (s-l-m, soundness and peace), سَلَام (salam) is a verbal noun denoting perfect safety and freedom from defect.
The Name “The Source of Peace” means: The One free of every defect and from whom all peace proceeds. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to purify the heart of resentment and keep others safe from the harm of tongue and hand. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
