Biography of Salman al-Farisi

Salman Al-Farisi Abu Abdullah, known as Salman Al-Khair, the client of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He was asked about his lineage. He said: I am Salman bin Al-Islam. His origin is from Persia, from Ramhormoz; according to another report, He is from Ji, which is the city of Isfahan, and his name before Islam was Mabih ibn Budakhshan ibn Murslan ibn Bahbudhan ibn Fayrouz ibn Sahrak, from the descendants of Ab al-Malik. There were Magians in Persia who were masters of Hell, and the reason for their conversion to Islam was Abu al-Makarim Mansour bin Ahmad bin Saad al-Mu'addeeb. Abu al-Qasim Nasr bin Muhammad bin Safwan told us. The modified one, Abu Al-Barakat Saad bin Muhammad bin Idris and Al-Khatib Abu Al-Fadhil Al-Hasan bin Hibat Allah informed us, saying: Abu Al-Faraj Muhammad informed us Ibn Idris Ibn Muhammad Ibn Idris, Abu Mansour Al-Muzaffar Ibn Muhammad Al-Tusi informed us, Abu Zakaria Yazid Ibn Muhammad Ibn Iyas Ibn Al-Qasim informed us.

Al-Azdi Al-Mawsili, Ali bin Jabir told us, Yusuf bin Bahloul told us, Abdullah bin Idris told us, Muhammad bin Ishaq told us.

Reported by Abu Zakaria said: Imran bin Musa, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: Abdullah bin Ghannam bin Hafs bin Ghayath told us, and Numayr told us, Yunus told us, on the authority of Ibn Ishaq, on the authority of Asim bin Omar bin Qatada, on the authority of Mahmoud bin Labid, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: Salman told me, he said: "I was a man from the people of Persia, from Isfahan, of my descent, the son of a man From its dahaqan, and in the hadith of Ibn Idris: My father was dahaqan of his land. I was the most beloved of creation to him: And in the hadith of al-Bakai: He loved the servants of Allah turned to him, so he made me sit in the house like a maid, so I worked hard in Persian, and according to the hadith of Ali bin Amir: in the Magi, so I was in the fire that It is kindled and does not go out. My father was the owner of an estate. He had a building to handle it.

Ibn Idris added in his hadith: In his house, he said to me one day: Oh My son, what you see has preoccupied me, so go to the village, and do not detain me, lest you distract me from every village with my concern for you, so I left for that reason and passed by a church. The Christians were praying, so I leaned towards them and liked their situation, and said, By Allah, this is better than our religion. So I stayed with them until the sun set. I neither came to the village nor returned to it. So he took me in and sent messengers after me. I told the Christians: When I liked their situation: Where is the origin of this religion? They said: In the Levant. So I returned to my father. He said: My son, I have sent messengers to you. So I said: I passed by people praying in a church. I liked what I saw of them. I knew that their religion is better than our religion.

He said: O my son, your religion and the religion of your fathers is better than their religion, so I said: No, by Allah. So he scared me and tied me up. So I sent to the Christians and informed them of what had happened to me. I asked them to inform me of who wanted the Levant, so they did. So I dropped the iron from my leg, and went out with them until I came to Syria. I asked them about their scholar. They said: The bishop, so I went to him and told him. And I said: May I be with you, serve you, and pray with you? He said: Stay. So I stayed with a man who was bad in his religion. He used to order them to give charity, so if they gave him something, he kept it for himself, until he collected seven small coins. full of gold and paper. Then he died, so I told them about him. They were patient with me, so I showed them his money, so they crucified him, did not leave him alone, and stoned him.

And they replaced in his place a man who was virtuous in his religion, his asceticism, his desire for the afterlife, and righteousness. So Allah placed his love in my heart, until death attended him. I said: Advise me. He mentioned a man in Mosul, and we were on the same matter until he died. So I came to Mosul and met the man, so I told him my news, and that so-and-so had ordered me to come to you. He said: Stay. I found him on his way. He remained in charge of his life until his death, so I said to him: Recommend me. He said: I do not know anyone who is as we are except a man from Amoria. So I came to him in Amuriyah and told him my news, so he ordered me to stay and something was rewarded for me. I took spoils and cows, so death attended him. So I said: Who do you recommend me to?

He said: I do not know of anyone today who is like what we used to be, but you may be overshadowed by a prophet who will be sent with the religion of Abraham, the Hanifiyya, who emigrated to a land full of palm trees, and in which there are signs and signs that are not hidden, between his shoulders is the seal of prophethood. He will eat gifts, but he will not eat charity, so if you are able, then be sincere with him. So he died. Then a group of Arabs passed by me, including dogs. I said: I will accompany you and give you these cows and sheep of mine, and you will carry me to your country? So they took me to Wadi Al-Qura. They sold me to a Jewish man.

I saw the palm trees and knew that it was the town that had been described to me, so I stayed with the one who bought me, and a man from Banu Qurayza came to him and bought me from him. He brought me the city, so I recognized it by its description, so I stayed with him working in his palm trees. Nakhla, when a cousin of my friend came and said: Yes, so-and-so, Allah fought Banu Qayla. I passed by them just before. They were gathered around a man who came to them from Mecca, claiming that he was a prophet. What is it is that I heard it, so the palm seized me, and the palm tree shook me, until I almost fell. I quickly descended, so I said: What is this news? So my friend punched me and said: What are you and that? I accept your business. So I went about my work until evening, so I collected something and brought it to him, while he was in Quba with his companions. I said: Gather with me.

I wanted to give it in charity, but I heard that you are a righteous man, and with you are some of your companions who are in need, so I thought that you were more deserving of it, so I placed it in his hands. He cupped his hands and said to his companions: Eat. So they ate, so I said: This is one, and came back. He turned to the city, so I collected something and brought it to him. I said: I loved your dignity, so I gave you a gift, but it is not charity. So he extended his hand and ate, and his companions ate, so I said: These are two, and came back.

So I came to him as he had followed a funeral in Baqi al-Gharqad, and his companions surrounded him, so I greeted him, and turned to look at the ring on his back. He knew what I wanted, so he threw off his robe. I saw the ring, so I kissed him and cried, so he made me sit in his hands, so I told him about me all as I told you, O Ibn Abbas. He liked that. He liked his companions to hear it, so I missed Badr and Uhud with him by parchment. He said to me: "Write, Salman, about yourself." So I stayed with my friend until I wrote to him that I would plant three hundred palm trees for him and forty ounces of gold.

Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "Help your brother with palm trees." So they helped me with five and ten, until he gathered for me and said to me: "Poverty for her and do not put any of it until I put it in my hand." So I did, so my companions helped me until I was finished, so I came to him. I would bring him the palm tree and he would put it and level it. So he left, and by the One who sent him with the truth, not a single one of them died, and the gold remained. While he was sitting, a man from his companions came to him with gold like an egg. He picked up some metal, and said: "Call poor Suleiman the Persian Al-Mukatab," so he said: Give this one. So I said: O Messenger of Allah, where does this fall from what I owe? Abu al-Tufayl narrated, on the authority of Salman, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, helped me with a golden egg. If it had been weighed against someone, it would have been heavier than him.

Another report states: He met some of the disciples; in another account, He converted to Islam in Mecca, but he was nothing. His first scene with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was the ditch. He did not miss a scene after the ditch, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, established brotherhood between him and Abu Darda'. Reported by Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Abdul-Qahir, on the authority of Salman Al-Farisi, who said: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself with whatever purification he is able, then anoints himself with His oil or from his household perfume. He did not differentiate between the two. So if the imam leaves and listens, he will be forgiven for what happened between him and the next Friday prayer." Narrated by Adam bin Iyas, on the authority of Ibn Abi Dhib, on the authority of Saeed, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn Wadi'ah, on the authority of Salman.

It was narrated by Ibn Ajlan, on the authority of Sa`id, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn Wadi'ah, on the authority of Abu Dharr, and Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Mihran and Ismail bin Ali bin Ubaid told us Allah and Abu Jafar Ubayd Allah bin Ahmad bin Ali, with their chain of transmission to Muhammad bin Isa Al-Sulami, he said: Sufyan bin Wakee' told us, my father told us, on the authority of Al-Hasan bin Salih, on the authority of Abu Rabi'ah Al-Ayadi, on the authority of Al-Hasan, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: "Indeed, Paradise longs for three exalted ones. And Ammar, and Salman." Salman was one of the best companions, their ascetics and virtuous ones, and those close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Aisha said: "Salman had a council with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, at night, until he almost defeated us over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Ali was asked about Salman. He said: He taught the first knowledge and the other knowledge. He is a sea that does not bleed. He is one of us, the People of the House. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had brought brotherhood between Salman and Abu Darda, and Abu Darda lived in Syria, and Salman lived in Iraq, so Abu Darda wrote to Salman: Peace be upon you, but now, for after you Allah has blessed me with wealth and a child. I have settled in the Holy Land. So Salman wrote to him: Peace be upon you. As for what follows, you wrote to me that Allah has blessed you with wealth and children. Know that goodness is not in abundance of money and children, but goodness is that your dreams increase and that your knowledge benefits you.

You wrote that you have descended into the Holy Land, and that the land does not work for anyone. Work as if you see it, and prepare yourself from the dead. Hudhayfah said to Salman: Shall we not build a house for you? He said: Why? To make me a king, and make for me a palace like your house in Mada'in. He said: No, but we will build you a house of reeds and roof it with papyrus. When you stand up, your head will almost hit you, and when you sleep, your limbs will almost hit you. He said: It is as if you were in my soul. His gift was five thousand, so when his gift came out, he divided it, ate what he earned, and used to cut the wickerwork. He was the one who advised the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to dig the trench when the parties came. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered it to be dug, the immigrants and the Ansar protested against Salman. He was a strong man.

The immigrants said: Salman is from us, and the Ansar said: Salman is from us, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: "Salman is from us, the People of the House." Ibn Abbas, Anas, Uqba bin Amer, Abu Saeed, Kaab bin Ajrah, Abu Othman Al-Nahdi, Sharhabeel bin Al-Samat, and others narrated from him. Reported by Abu Mansour bin Al-Sihi, on the authority of Salman al-Farisi, who said: He told me The Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "Do you know what Friday is? » He said: I said: Allah and His Messenger
