Definition Al-jarwdya

Al-jarwdya according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

They are the companions of Abu al-Jarud. They asserted the existence of an explicit text from the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, regarding the imamate of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, by description rather than by name, and they declared the companions to be disbelievers for opposing him and for failing to follow the example of Ali after the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.

Al-jarwdya according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The companions of al-Jarud. They asserted the existence of an explicit text from the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, regarding the imamate of Ali, may Allah ennoble his face, by description rather than by name, and they declared the companions, may Allah be pleased with them, to be disbelievers for opposing him and for failing to follow him after the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him (Al-Ta'rifat, page 76, where it appears under the name al-Jaruziyyah).
