Definition Al-mtn

Al-mtn according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Of the earth: that which is hard and elevated, and matun matanah: it became intense and strong. That which the three share in terms of explicit and implicit indication. The matn according to the terminology of hadith scholars: the utmost limit of the discourse to which the chain of transmission reaches. The matn is used by practitioners of various arts to designate a concise authored work in a science among the sciences to facilitate memorizing the science or reviewing it (its author). Al-Tawqif p. 634, and Muntaha al-Wusul p. 89.

Al-mtn according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

That by which the meaning of the hadith is established.

Al-mtn in the Quran

﴿قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

« They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? »

Surah المؤمنون : 82

﴿أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

« When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? »

Surah الصافات : 16

﴿أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ

« That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" »

Surah الصافات : 53

﴿أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا ۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعٌۢ بَعِيدٌۭ

« When we have died and have become dust, [we will return to life]? That is a distant return." »

Surah ق : 3

﴿وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

« And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? »
