Definition Al-mtwatr

Al-mtwatr according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is the report (khabar) established on the tongues of a people whose collusion on lying is inconceivable, whether because of their number or their uprightness; such as the judgment that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) claimed prophethood and displayed the miracle by his hand. It is so named because it occurs not all at once but by succession and sequence.

Al-mtwatr according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

In language: it is derived from tawatur, which is continuity and succession; one says: 'his letters reached me one after another (tawatarat),' that is, they followed continuously. Among the jurists, alone: it is taken from its linguistic meaning; it is the report

Every report whose transmitters, in their multitude, reach a degree such that custom renders their collusion on lying inconceivable.

A report of a group whose customary collusion on lying is inconceivable, concerning a sensible matter; and the attainment of knowledge of its content is the sign that its conditions are met.
