Definition Al-nṣb

Al-nṣb according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

(In Persian: to set aside). A species of the species of declension (i'rab); its verification lies in raf'.

Al-nṣb according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The thing, nasban: to set it up firmly. Against so-and-so: to oppose him. The thing or the matter upon so-and-so: to press it upon him persistently; one says: work beset him (nasabahu al-'amal), illness beset him, worry beset him. The man, nasban: toil. In a matter: striving, exertion; he is nasib and nasb. The thing: to raise it; to set it down (the contrary). So-and-so: to appoint him to a post.

With damma, from nasaba: plural ansab: the erected thing, such as a marker set at the bounds or the end of something.

Al-nṣb according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Al-nasb: malady and tribulation; in the Quran: "Remember Our servant Job, when he called his Lord: Satan has afflicted me with distress (nusb) and punishment" (Sad 38:41). Al-nusub: a marker erected at a boundary or an end; plural: ansab.
