With kasra of the ra', per Abu al-Sa'adat: every sweet-smelling plant among the kinds of aromatics; it has been said: the tips of every plant of pleasant scent (Mu'jam al-Mustalahat, vol. 2).
A name for every green plant without a trunk having a pleasant scent, such as ambergris and the rose.
﴿وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ﴾
« And grain having husks and scented plants. »
Surah الرحمن : 12
﴿فَرَوْحٌۭ وَرَيْحَانٌۭ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍۢ﴾
« Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure. »
Surah الواقعة : 89
