Al-shadh mn al-ḥdyth according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

It is that which has a single chain of transmission attested to by a shaykh, whether he is trustworthy or not. That which comes from an untrustworthy person is rejected and not accepted, and that which comes from a trustworthy person is withheld from and cannot be used as an argument.
