Definition Al-tʿbyr

Al-tʿbyr according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

A verbal noun: 'abbara, yu'abbiru (with the intensification of the ba'): excess in explanation and clarification; one says 'a'bartu the dream, and abbartu the dream.' Abu al-Baqa' said: at-ta'bir is specific to interpreting dreams, and it is the crossing from their outward appearances to their hidden realities. He said: it is more specific than ta'wil, for ta'wil is said of it and of other things. (Al-Misbah al-Munir, root 'abr, p. 148; al-Kulliyyat, p. 312.)
