Definition Al-tbyʿ

Al-tbyʿ according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

The calf in its first year: it is called tabi', because it follows its mother; the female: tabi'a; the masculine plural: atba', the feminine plural: taba'. As a technical term, among the Malikis: what has completed two years and entered the third. Likewise defined is the tabi' or tabi'a: that which has entered its second year 'of cattle'; so in 'Al-Hidaya'.

Al-tbyʿ according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

Of cattle: that which has passed the full year; the tabi'a is its female.

Al-tbyʿ according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The follower. The servant. The one demanding blood-revenge. The calf; plural: atba'; the female: tabi'a, plural: taba'. It was named tabi' because it follows its mother; it is also called ji'dh, ji'dha. The calf that has completed the year; said by al-Azhari. Among the Shafi'is, the Hanbalis, and the Ja'faris: what has completed a year and entered the second.
