Definition Al-tṣḥyḥ

Al-tṣḥyḥ according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

In the language: to remove the sickness from the sick. In terminology: to remove the fractions lying between the shares and the heads.

Al-tṣḥyḥ according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

To remove the sickness from the sick. With the scholars of inheritance: to remove the fraction between the shares and the heads. In another phrasing: to take the shares from the least possible number such that no fraction falls upon any heir, by making the fractional parts whole numbers without fraction: that is the meaning of the rectifying of fractions. When the reckoning issues from the least it does not issue from the greater: if it issues from three it does not issue from six.

Al-tṣḥyḥ according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Language: verbal noun of sahhaha; one says: 'I corrected the book and the reckoning': when one mends its error and it becomes right. With the muhaddithun: to judge the hadith sound when it fulfils the conditions of soundness laid down by the muhaddithun. The tashih with the people of inheritance: the removing of the fractions between the shares and the heads, or the obtaining of the least number divisible by the heirs without fraction. With the jurists: the raising or removing of what corrupts the worship or the contract. 'Al-Rawd al-Murbi' p. 363; al-Mawsu'a al-Fiqhiyya 12/55.'
