And alnhaa according to Mu'jam Lughat al-Fuqaha

With the grammarians: Sibawayh's Kitab; contrary to the dual and the plural; it may also be used for what stands opposed to the compound, as in reason (for example) (English gloss: singular). With the theologians (mutakallimun): the term in which no part of the signifier indicates a part of the meaning, like "insan" (man) (English gloss: simple term). With the hadith scholars: the hadith which a single transmitter reports alone, under any mode of unique transmission: if it has other lines it is shadh (irregular) or munkar (repudiated), and if it has no other lines it is gharib (solitary).
