📖 4 min readParadise. The best of the later scholars, Shaykh Abd al-Hakim, may Allah have mercy on him, said that it is a genitive construction. Paradise was named thus either because its inhabitants are safe from calamities, or because they are addressed with peace, for the keepers of Paradise say to its inhabitants: ﴿Peace be upon you, you have done well; so enter it to dwell eternally﴾. According to these two suppositions, the term peace is a verbal noun. Or because Peace is one of the names of Allah the Most High, and Paradise was attributed to it to honor it, just as one says the house of Allah for the Sacred Mosque of Allah. In that case, the term peace is an assimilated adjective, end of quote. If it is said: what is the reason for specifying the attribution of the abode to this name among the names of Allah the Most High to the exclusion of another of His names, while honor is also obtained by other than it, we say: since Paradise is the abode of safety, it was attributed to a name containing the meaning of safety for aggrandizement and honor. Thus, the reason for the specification is the existence of the meaning of safety in each of them, so understand this. The meaning of peace, on the supposition that it is one of the names of Allah the Most High, is the One free from imperfections, or the One from whom safety originates in the beginning and through whom safety is attained in the return, meaning the Giver of safety.
Paradise. And in the Noble Quran: ﴿And Allah invites to the abode of peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path﴾ (Yunus: 25). Al-Salami: the bones of the fingers of the hand and foot. It is a name for both the singular and plural, and the reeds (plural) are called salamyat. Qutrub said: The salamyat are the veins on the back of the hand and the foot. Al-Salm: Islam. -: reconciliation. In the Noble Quran: ﴿And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing﴾ (Al-Anfal: 61). The meaning of the condition in the verse is that the command for reconciliation is restricted to the interest of the Muslims. As for when Islam is dominant over disbelief, and the interest in reconciliation does not appear, then no. -: the peace-maker. It is said: he and she, and they (masculine and feminine): salm. (Pluriel) aslam, and salam. Al-Silm: peace. It is treated as both masculine and feminine. Al-Salam: submission, -: greeting. - captivity without war. -: a type of sale in which the price is paid in advance and the commodity is specified by description for a known term. -: the advance loan according to all linguists. - legally: the name of a contract that necessitates ownership of the price immediately and of the commodity at a later time. The sold item is called the muslim fihi, the price is the capital, the seller is called the muslim ilayhi, and the buyer is the master of salam. (Al-Jurjani). In Al-Majalla (article 123): a delayed sale for a delayed item. Al-Musalama: reconciliation. Al-Muslim: the one who submits. -: one who professes Islam. - according to the Hanafis: the one who submits to the right. - according to the Jafaris: the one who faces the qibla in prayer.
