Fal-ḍabṭa according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

In the extraction of the unknown using the rule of three in matters related to transactions, you multiply the number appearing at the end of the question by a number of a different kind, and you divide the product by the number of its own kind; the quotient is then the desired result. Thus, in the last example, the number of two ratls is multiplied by the number of three dirhams, and the product of six is divided by the number of five ratls; the quotient is the desired result.
