Definition Mahal

Mahal according to Kitab at-Ta'rifat (Al-Jurjani)

What whose existence outward is impossible, as motion and rest joining in one part.

Mahal according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

What whose existence outward is impossible.

Mahal according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Lexically: what swerves from the right side to other. As a term: what demands corruption from every face, as motion and rest joining in one locus, or your saying: « the body is white and black in one state ». Note: the difference between mahal and contradiction: the contradictory is not mahal, for the speaker may speak truth then gainsay it, his speech becoming contradictory, its end gainsaying its beginning, without being mahal, for truth is not mahal.

Mahal according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

What whose existence outward is not conceivable.

Mahal according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

What whose existence outward is impossible.

Mahal in the Quran

« And the thunder exalts [Allah] with praise of Him - and the angels [as well] from fear of Him - and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills while they dispute about Allah; and He is severe in assault. »

Surah الرعد : 13
