Definition Nal

Nal according to An-Nihaya (Ibn al-Athir)

Feminine: what is worn for walking, today called tasouma; described singular masculine, its feminine not literal.

Nal according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Famous; sometimes mentioned meaning the leather, by extending the thing’s name considering what it returns to; hence what occurs in Kanz ad-Daqa’iq: selling a sandal for having it edging is valid.

Nal according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Al-Jouhari said: an-na’l: the shoe, feminine; diminutive na’ila; said: the sandale among Arabs: a shoe not encircling the foot; encircling it and covering both heels, it is the khuff. The sandale feminine metaphorically; each foot a sandal, man two sandals at his feet; Allah said: « remove your sandals: you are in the sacred valley, Touwa ».

Nal according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

The shoe: what the foot is kept of the ground by; also the thick piece of ground whose pebbles gleam and which sprouts not.
