Definition Nkl

Nkl according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

To shrink from the matter, in the form nukulan: to be cowardly and retreat. One says: he shrank from the enemy; he held back from the oath. Against such a one, an ugly affliction: a calamity befell him. Against the matter, in the form nikalan: to shrink. To punish him with a chastisement that restrains him and deters another from doing the like of his deed. The thing: to shackle it. To turn such a one from a thing: to drive him from it. Al-nikal: the punishment. In the Quran: [al-Ma'ida, 38: 'And the thief, male and female: cut off their hands as a requital for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah; Allah is mighty, wise.']. The affliction. Al-nakal: the strong, tried man. In the noble hadith: 'Allah loves the nakal against the nakal', that is, the valiant rider against the strong horse. Al-nakl: the fetter. (plural) ankal and nukul. Al-nukul: verbal noun. Among the Shafi'is: to refuse to swear to what the judge demands, that is, to what relates to it of its content.
