Qra according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The book, in the forms qira'a and qir'an: to follow its words with the eyes and pronounce them. To follow its words without pronouncing them. The verse of the Quran: to pronounce its words from the text or from memory; he is then qari'. (plural) qurra'. The thing, in the forms qar'an and qir'an: to gather it and join its parts. The woman: to detain her for the istibra' until her waiting period is complete; she is then muqra'a. Al-qari': the ascetic devotee. (plural) qurra'. The scholar of the Quran and the Sunna. Al-qar' and al-qur': the known period. The gathering. The menses. The purity after menses. (plural) aqra' and quru'. By the consensus of the scholars of the disciplines of fiqh, usul and language: the word is applied in the language both to menses and to purity; they differ only as to what the verse intends. (al-Nawawi and Ibn Abd al-Barr). According to Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Ibn Mas'ud, Anas, Mu'adh, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, Abu al-Darda' and Ubada ibn al-Samit; according to a transmission from Ibn Abbas among the Companions; and according to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, Alqama, al-Aswad, al-Nakha'i, Mujahid, Ishaq, al-Hasan al-Basri, al-Thawri, al-Awza'i, Ibn Abi Layla and al-Hasan ibn Salih; according to the Hanafis, according to the authentic book among the Hanbalis, according to one report of the Shafi'is, the Zaydis and the athariyya: it is the menses. Ibn al-Qayyim and Ibn Qudama said: in the language of the Law, the established usage is to employ qur' in the sense of menses, and it has never been used in the sense of purity; so his words must be carried to the established usage in his language. According to A'isha, Zayd ibn Thabit and Ibn Umar; according to a transmission from Ali and a transmission from Ibn Abbas among the Companions; and according to al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, Salim ibn Abd Allah, Urwa, al-Baqir, Aban ibn Uthman, Rabi'a, Sulayman ibn Yasar, Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz, al-Zuhri, Qatada, Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman, al-Thawr, Ata' and the majority of the Medinans; among the Malikis, the Shafi'is, one report of the Hanbalis, the Zahirites, the Ja'fariyya and the Ibadis: it is the purity.
