📖 2 min readSalahhahu, in musalakah or sulhan: to make peace with him, be on good terms with him. Al-istilah: agreement; in terminology: the agreement of a specific group to take a term out of its meaning into another meaning (Ibn 'Abidin). According to the Shafi'is: the term the jurists use among themselves in a meaning other than its linguistic meaning, without that being derived from the speech of the Lawgiver through the Quran or the Sunnah. As-salah: uprightness; freedom from defect; the opposite of corruption; good and correctness. As-salih: free from all corruption; in common usage: one who fulfils the rights of Allah, the Most High, and the rights of creatures according to his ability (al-Dasuqi). According to the Hanafis: one who is veiled (in reputation), neither disgraced nor suspected, upright in way, sound, who avoids harm, is of little evil, does not pour scandalising nabidh, is not regretted by men (as a companion), does not slander chaste women and is not known for lying. As-sulh: the ending of the dispute. In the noble hadith: 'Sulh between Muslims is lawful, except a sulh that forbids the lawful or permits the forbidden.' The ending of the state of war; as-salm (peace), masculine and feminine. In legal terms: a contract that removes the dispute and cuts off the contest (al-Haskafi). In the Mejelle (article 1531): a contract that removes the dispute by mutual consent and is concluded by offer (ijab) and acceptance (qabul).
