Definition Shtnt

Shtnt according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Shatana the house, in shatunan: to be distant from it. Shatana the beast: to draw it with the shitan (well rope). Shaytana: to become like the devil, or act like him. Ash-shitan: the long rope with which water is drawn from the well, or to which the bucket (dalw) is fastened (plural: ashtan). Ash-shaytan: Iblis. In the Noble Quran: 'The Devil (shaytan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is Vast, Knowing' (Al-Baqarah, 268); the nun is radical (plural: shayatin); every rebellious, insolent creature among men, jinn and animals. In the Noble Book: 'And when they meet those who believe, they say: we believe; but when they are alone with their devils (shayatin), they say: we are with you, we were only mocking' (Al-Baqarah, 14), that is: their companions among men and jinn; every blameworthy power over man.
