Definition Tabii

Tabii according to Maqalid al-'Ulum (As-Suyuti)

Every upright Muslim who met a Companion.

Tabii according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

He who met a Companion believing in the Prophet and died on faith.

Tabii according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

He who met one of the Companions believing in the Prophet and died on islam. At-tab’: the follower, singular; and the plural; in the noble Quran: « when they dispute in the Fire, the weak say to the proud: we were your followers; will you avail us a share of the Fire? The proud say: we are all therein: Allah has judged between the servants » (al-Mou’min 47-48). At-tab’a: what one demands of vexation and the like.
