Definition Ywm al-trwya

Ywm al-trwya according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

It is the eighth day of Dhu al-Hijja; the reason for its being so named is under 'tarwiya.'

Ywm al-trwya according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

It is the eighth day of Dhu al-Hijja; it was so named because the pilgrims take on water therein for what follows, that is, they draw and drink; thus in 'al-Majma'.'

Ywm al-trwya according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

It is the eighth of Dhu al-Hijja. Ar-rawi: the transmitter of hadith or poetry, or of water: its carrier and transporter; (plural) ruwat. Ar-rawiya: the feminine of rawi; : one whose transmission is abundant, the ha being for intensification; : the one who drinks; : the camel, mule or donkey on which water is drawn; the common folk call the travel waterskin rawiya, a permitted metaphor; (plural) rawaya.
