Text of the hadith

On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: « Allah the Most High has said: O son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and hope in Me, I forgive you for what has come from you and I care little. O son of Adam, if your sins reached the clouds of the sky and then you asked My forgiveness, I would forgive you and care little. O son of Adam, if you came to Me with sins nearly as vast as the earth, then you met Me associating nothing with Me, I would come to you with forgiveness nearly as vast as the earth. » Narrated by at-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan hadith; in some versions: [gharib].
