Definition of Afq

Al-ufuq (the horizon): the limit of what sight can perceive of sky and earth.

Plural 'âfâq'.

Allah says: 'And he is at the highest horizon' (An-Najm: 7), 'He saw him at the clear horizon' (At-Takwîr: 23), 'We will show them Our signs in the horizons' (Fussilat: 53).

Ufuqî means what is related to the horizon.

﴿سَنُرِيهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فِى ٱلْءَافَاقِ وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?
Surah An-Najm : 7 Meccan
﴿وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.
Surah At-Takwir : 23 Meccan
﴿وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.
