📖 1 min readThe Exalter is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One who raises whom He wills in perfect wisdom.
To pronounce the name The Exalter in Arabic, we say: Ar-Rafi'.
It is written in Arabic: الرافع.
From the Arabic root ر-ف-ع (r-f-', to raise), رَافِع (rafi') is the active participle فَاعِل, the one who elevates rank, honor, and creation.
The Name “The Exalter” means: The One who raises whom He wills in perfect wisdom. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to act fairly, restore rights, and begin by judging one's own conduct honestly. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
