📖 1 min readThe Lord of Majesty and Honor is one of the 99 beautiful names of Allah. Its meaning: The One who unites perfect majesty with abundant generosity.
To pronounce the name The Lord of Majesty and Honor in Arabic, we say: Dhu Al-Jalali wa Al-Ikram.
It is written in Arabic: ذو الجلال والإكرام.
ذُو (dhu) means possessor; جَلَال (jalal), from ج-ل-ل, is majesty, and إِكْرَام (ikram), Form IV of ك-ر-م, is honor and generosity.
The Name “The Lord of Majesty and Honor” means: The One who unites perfect majesty with abundant generosity. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to grow in reverence and humility, never ascribing to creation what belongs only to the Creator. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
