📖 1 min readThe Islamic ummah cared for the science of tajweed with intense care. The scholars of the early generations (may Allah be pleased with them) devoted themselves to serving it and protecting it, whether through verification and the composition of works, or through recitation and teaching (iqra').
Thus the Noble Quran remained preserved in the breasts, recited fluently and with tajweed, fulfilling the promise of Allah (glorified and exalted be He) to preserve it, when He said: إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ ¹.
The reality is that it is a right of the Quran upon us, the Muslims, that we bring excellence to its recitation and its tartil, so that it may be a support for us in contemplating it and understanding its meanings. This is possible only by holding fast to the study of the science of tajweed, to the knowledge of its rules and to their application: either by listening to a reciter who has mastered tajweed, or by reading before a shaykh of sound memorization and skilled performance.
