The definition of scientific tajweed

It means: the knowledge of its rules and of its scientific rulings, which we are discussing in the following chapters. These rules, these foundations and these rulings are according to the recitation of the imam Hafs 'an 'Asim.

Its ruling

As for the ruling on learning scientific tajweed, people divide into two groups before it.

The first group: the general public; learning it is recommended for them, and not obligatory.

The second group: the elite of the people, namely those who devote themselves to recitation or to teaching (iqra'); learning it is for them an individual obligation, so that they may be a model for the others among the general public in reciting the Book of Allah in the manner that is its due.

It is necessary that in every town there be a group that learns tajweed and teaches it to the people. If no group among them assumes this duty, all of them are sinners.

Its proof

The proof is the general scope of the saying of the Most High: فَلَوْلا نَفَرَ مِنْ كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ مِنْهُمْ طَائِفَةٌ لِيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ ¹, and the study of the science of tajweed is part of deepening in religion. Therefore, when a group of the elite of the people takes charge of learning it and teaching it, the obligation falls from the general public.
