Prayer in congregation occupies a central place in the structure of prayer in Islam. The jurists devoted a detailed study to it: its legal status, upon whom it is binding, the minimum number that forms it, its location, the repetition of the congregation, and the excuses that exempt from attending it. This page brings together the positions of the schools with their evidence, drawn from the classical sources of fiqh.
