The sittings, sunnas and what invalidates prayer

Islamic Fiqh > Prayer > The pillars and conditions of prayer > The sittings, sunnas and what invalidates prayer

Updated on 06 October 2026 at 10:50 PM

This part completes the description of the Prophet's prayer (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): the disliked postures such as iqa' and spreading the arms, the etiquettes of yawning, clothing and the gaze, the choice of places and surfaces for prayer, before moving to what invalidates it: speech, addressing someone with Quranic verses, weeping and laughing. Then come the rules of adding and omitting pillars, and the case of the one who forgets the tashahhud. Each school position is reported with its evidence and classical references.
