📖 1 min readSo-and-so to a thing: to compel him (udtarrahu) and force him to it; in the Quran: "He has only forbidden you carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been offered to other than Allah; whoever is compelled, neither craving nor transgressing, Allah is forgiving, merciful" (al-Nahl 16:115): if he needs what is forbidden him, it is permitted him by necessity, and no sin rests upon him in eating it.
