Ahya the people, in ihya': to render them fertile. Ahya Allah someone: to make him live. In the Noble Quran: 'Say: O mankind! I am the messenger of Allah to you all, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god but He: He gives life and He gives death' (Al-A'raf, 158). Ahya Allah the earth: to bring forth its vegetation; hence His word: 'Allah is He who sends the winds that stir up clouds which We drive to a dead land, and thereby We give life to the earth after its death: so will be the resurrection' (Fatir, 9). Ahya someone the night: to forgo sleep and spend it in worship.
