Definition Al-baʿ

Al-baʿ according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The span between the two palms when the arms are stretched right and left.

Al-baʿ according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The space between the two palms when the arms are outstretched to right and left. Plural: abwa'.

Al-baʿ according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

To sell a man a thing, ba'an or mabi'an: give it to him for a price; he is ba'i' (seller), plural bai'a. 'To sell a man's property against his will': sell it without his consent. 'To step over his brother's sale': interpose between buyer and seller to break the contract, so as to buy or sell oneself. In the noble hadith: 'Let none of you step over his brother's sale.' Its form: to say to one who has bought goods within the option period: 'rescind your sale, I will buy dearer'; or to the seller: 'rescind your sale, I will sell dearer.' To buy (opposite of selling).
