Definition Al-jdy

Al-jdy according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

With a fatha and sometimes a kasra, the male offspring of a goat when it is in its first year, and the female is called anāq. And the expression "jadā fulānun ‘alaynā" means he bestowed favors upon us, and the derived noun is al-jadwā. "Ajdā" means he attained the benefit, and the expression "mā ajdā fi‘luhu shay'an" is borrowed from giving when there is no profit in it. [Section of the dhāl]
