Definition Al-mzaḥ

Al-mzaḥ according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

With kasra and the unaspirated ha: jesting that harms not the addressee nor abases him, unlike hazing and mockery, that is, derision. In Sharh al-Sunna: mizah, with kasra, is a masdar: mazah tu-hu mazahan; and with damma: masdar of mazah tu-hu mazahan. And the Prophet (may God's prayer and peace be upon him) joked, as in the Shama'il of Tirmidhi.

Al-mzaḥ according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

With kasra and the unaspirated ha: jesting that harms not the addressee nor abases him, unlike hazing and mockery: that is, derision. With damma: jesting toward another in the mode of gentleness and tenderness, without harm, to the exclusion of derision and mockery.
