📖 2 min readIn al-Majalla (article 707): it is the offer of the pledge and its acceptance. The offer is the word of the pledgor: 'I pledge you this thing against my debt', or another expression to that effect over the property; and the acceptance is the word of the pledgee: 'I accept', or 'I consent', or another expression indicating approval. The uttering of the word 'pledge' is not required. Example: if one buys a thing and gives the seller money and says to him: 'Keep this money with you until I pay you the price of the sale', he shall have pledged that money. Al-qab i l: the noble, generous. (plural) qubal and qiba la'. The company: a body of three or more persons of various tribes. The attachment. In the Quran: [al-A'raf, 27: 'O children of Adam, let not the devil tempt you as he brought your parents out of the garden, stripping them of their garments to show them their shame: he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them; we made the devils patrons of those who do not believe.']. The guarantor, or surety. Al-qabi la: the unit of the Arab tribes, all descended from one father. Al-muqaba la: facing one another. The ewe from whose forepart of the ear a piece is cut and left hanging. Al-qaba': a garment worn over the other clothes or over a shirt, girded. (plural) aqbiya.
