Al-thqlan according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

Humans and jinn; they were so named for their abundance. In (the work) 'al-Mashariq': for their distinction by intellect and discernment. In the Qur'an: 'We shall attend to you, O you two weighty kinds (ath-thaqalan).'
