📖 2 min readThat by which one may reach, with sound examination, the sought end; in the usage of the people of truth: the ordinances of Allah, the Most High, and His lawful religious rulings that admit no license; for pursuing licenses causes the nature's slackening, requiring halt and interruption on the way.
That by which one may reach, with sound examination, the sought end; it is of two kinds: the luminous path (nuri) and the luminous-essential path (anni); their definition is under 'dalil'. With the people of realities: the commands of the name of Allah, the Most High, and His lawful religious rulings admitting no license.
Al-sabil is mentioned masculine and feminine; the way of everything is that by which one reaches it (and it preceded under 'the ways'). (Al-Matla', p. 399).
In language: the path beaten by feet, that is, struck; and all that a passer strikes, customary or otherwise; borrowed for every course a man takes in a blameworthy or praiseworthy deed.
With fatha then kasra; (plural) Turuq and aTuruq, masculine and feminine: the beaten path, that is, that in which people walk, striking it with their soles.
﴿إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَظَلَمُوا۟ لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ طَرِيقًا﴾
« Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice] - never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path. »
Surah النساء : 168
﴿إِلَّا طَرِيقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا﴾
« Except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that, for Allah, is [always] easy. »
Surah النساء : 169
﴿وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى فَٱضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًۭا فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ يَبَسًۭا لَّا تَخَـٰفُ دَرَكًۭا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ﴾
« And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]." »
Surah طه : 77
﴿قَالُوا۟ يَـٰقَوْمَنَآ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَـٰبًا أُنزِلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مُوسَىٰ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِيقٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ﴾
« They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path. »
Surah الأحقاف : 30
