📖 2 min readInsarama the thing: to cease, be cut off. Insarama the night: to come to an end, pass away. Sarramahu: to cut it short. Al-insiram: the cutting off. As-sarim: the cutting sword; the valiant warrior. As-siram: as-siram. As-siram: the felling of palm trees; one says: this, truly, is the siram; one says: the jadhadh and the siram for palm trees, the qitaf for vines, and the liqat for what falls off in picking, such as peaches, pears and others. As-sarmah: the herd of camels between ten and forty head (plural: sirm); the band of clouds. As-sarim: that whose fruit has been gathered; the dawn; the night; a black land that grows nothing. In the Noble Quran: 'Indeed We tried them as We tried the owners of the garden, when they swore to pluck its fruit in the morning, without making any exception. Then there came upon it an affliction from your Lord while they slept, and in the morning it was as though it were picked bare (as-sarim)' (Al-Qalam, 17-20); what has been cut (masrum). As-sarimah: as-sarim; firmness in the matter and resolve about it; the rupture (of relations).
