Definition Astrja

Astrja according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Istarja'a the thing from him: to take back what he had given him. Istarja'a at the affliction: to say: 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we return.' At-tarji': the repetition of the recitation. Istarja'a the call (to prayer): to mention the two attestations twice in a lowered voice, then repeat them raising the voice. Ar-raji' (the woman raj'i'ah): she who returns to her people after the death of her husband (plural: rawaji'). Ar-raj': dung; what issues upon the newborn's head like mucilage (mukhat); rain after rain. In the Noble Quran: 'By the heaven of return (dhat al-raj')' (At-Tariq, 11). Mujahid said: bearing cloud: it rains, then returns with rain. Ar-raj' of the voice: its echo. Ar-raj'a: the return. In the Noble Quran: 'Indeed, to your Lord is the return (ar-ruj'a)' (Al-'Alaq, 8); the reply, the message; the single occasion of returning; the return of the irrevocably divorced (mutlaq) woman to her husband; the return to the world after death. In legal terms: the woman's return to marriage after a revocable divorce (ghayr ba'in), during the waiting period ('iddah) (al-Ansari). Ar-rij'i: pertaining to the return (al-raj'ah).
