Definition Bazgha

Bazgha according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

One says the sun bazaghat (began to rise): with fatha on the ba', the za', and the emphatic ghayn: when it began its ascent. Prayer was prohibited at this time because it is the hour of the sun-worshippers' prostration; it was forbidden lest the Muslims imitate them; in the Qur'an: 'when he saw the sun rising (bazighatan).'
