📖 1 min readHadbata the ground, in hadban: part of it rose. Hadbata the man: his back became humped and he became deformed; it is also said: his back became curved (hadaba), and he is ahdab (hunchbacked) for a man, and hadba' for a woman. Plural: hidab. Hadbata: to stoop and bend. Hadbata the woman over her child: to refrain from remarriage after (the death of) their father, out of compassion for him. Al-hadab: the elevated part of the ground (plural: ahdab, hidab). In the Noble Quran: 'and they will come down from every elevation (kulli hadabin)' (Al-Anbiya', 96); the protrusion of the back with the receding of chest and belly. Ibn Hazm said: al-hadb is a curvature and bending in the vertebrae of the loins or the vertebrae of the chest, and the two may occur together.
