In the Quran: [al-Mu'minun, 74-75: 'Those who believe not in the hereafter are in deviation from the path; and had We mercy on them and removed the distress from them, they would persist in their transgression, wandering.']. He is then lajjuj and lajjuja; the ha is for intensification. She is lajjuja. One says: worry and dispute made him obstinate. Such a one is obstinate: he carried the quarrel to the limit. Al-lijaj: obstinacy in a thing. Quarrelling and persisting in it.
