📖 1 min readTarda into the pit or the like, or from a high place: to fall. In the Noble Quran: 'As for the one who is stingy and thinks himself self-sufficient, and denies the best reward, We will ease him towards difficulty. And his wealth will not avail him when he falls (tarda)' (Al-Layl, 8-11). Zayd ibn Aslam said: tarda means: he fell into the Fire. Mujahid said: he died. Tarda the rida': not to wear the rida'. Ar-rida': what is worn over the garments (plural: ardiyah). Ar-rada: perdition; increase. Al-mutardi: the one who falls; the one who perishes; the feminine form is mutardiyah.
