📖 1 min readThe Day of Resurrection. In the Quran: [at-Taghabun, 9: 'The day He will gather you for the day of gathering: that is the day of mutual deprivation.']. Ibn Abbas said: it was named thus because the people of Paradise will deprive the people of the Fire. Muqatil ibn Hayyan said: there is no greater deprivation than that these enter Paradise while those are taken to the Fire. Qatada said: because the people of Paradise covenanted to Islam and profited Paradise, while the people of the Fire withheld from Islam and lost; they were likened to merchants who cheat one another in their trade. Al-ghabn: deficiency. Among the Shafi'is: the excess over the price of the equivalent. Among the Ibadis: selling a thing for less, or buying it for more, through ignorance or negligence.
